ADELA Quintet plays jazz of the hard-hitting kind. The energy and playfulness between the musicians are at the center. The giants of the nineties are the great inspiration. Among them are Kenny Garrett, Kenny Kirkland and the Marsalis Brothers. The repertoire consists of a mixture of original numbers and numbers taken from the postbop repertoire. The five members are establishing themselves on the Danish and Swedish jazz scene. The band members are united by their common love for hard-hitting jazz.

Etienne’s exploration of the snare drum pushes the boundaries of its tonal and harmonic possibilities through innovative techniques and a meticulous approach to sound. By employing circular motions and precise control of contact points, he draws out an extensive range of pitches, harmonics, and overtones from the drumhead. His work reimagines the snare drum as a complete sonic entity, transforming it from a percussive instrument into a rich source of melodic and harmonic material.

22:00 Hyper Elastic Jinx
A dynamic quartet that combines diverse impulses from the music scenes in Berlin, Copenhagen and Oslo. With multiple musical languages from jazz, rock, experimental and contemporary music they set their own artistic DNA within the musical frame of free improvised music. Music that is impulsive, expressive and multidirectional.

Each musician in this quartet contributes with different musical backgrounds and they combine them collectively with interactions of tangling frequencies, overlapping textures, open tonalities, rhythmical structures and complex emotions.
